The 10th anniversary of a wedding is typically celebrated with tin or aluminum; for Marvel Studios, it’ll be celebrated in the most epic way imaginable.
Not that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a marriage, per se, but it’s still a cinematic union between some of the most recognized comic book characters in history. And yes, we are referring to Avengers: Infinity War, Joe and Anthony Russo’s super-sized ensemble piece that is barrelling down on its May release date.
But with only a two-minute teaser and a Super Bowl promo to its name – so far, at least – Marvel is clearly exercising a lot of restraint when it comes to promoting its biggest blockbuster. Just yesterday, for instance, the studio was busy drawing attention to the MCU and its rich, 10-year legacy, but it did include a sliver of behind-the-scenes footage from Infinity War, as you’ll be able to see down below.
It’s not much, mind you, but we’ll still take any promo that involves Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Speaking of which, Marvel is also beginning to spotlight each member of the Avengers, with Thor being the first character to star in his own featurette. From Asgard to Sakaar and everywhere in between, the God of Thunder has enjoyed a pretty incredible journey thus far, and it’ll reach dizzying new heights later this year, when he’ll set a course for the Dwarven realm of Nidavellir alongside the Guardians of the Galaxy. Hello Jarnbjorn, goodbye Mjolnir?
Avengers: Infinity War graces theaters on May 4th, and the MCU will never be the same again. Closer to home, the buzz surrounding Black Panther has been electric, with Ryan Coogler’s critically-adorned sequel expected to claw its way into U.S. theaters on February 16th.
