Looks Like Marvel’s Norse God Will Be Wielding A New Weapon In Avengers: Infinity War

While promoting Ragnarok with Entertainment Tonight, Chris Hemsworth hinted at an exciting new weapon for the Norse god in Avengers: Infinity War.

When Taika Waititi climbed aboard Thor: Ragnarok, part and parcel of the director’s vision involved stripping Marvel’s Norse god down to the bare bones. No home. No luscious locks. And definitely no hammer.

You can thank Cate Blanchett’s Hela, Goddess of Death, for shattering Mjölnir into a thousand pieces, and though it’s all but certain that Thor’s mystical weapon of choice will be back in his possession by the time the credits roll on Ragnarok, Chris Hemsworth himself has teased a new and exciting armament for Avengers: Infinity War.

Currently in the midst of press for Thor: Ragnarok, the Aussie actor has been fielding all kinds of questions relating to his tenure in the MCU and what lies ahead. But it was Entertainment Tonight that raised the topic of Thor’s arsenal, and how it might expand to include the fabled Jarnbjorn come 2018. Granted, Hemsworth doesn’t name-drop the axe specifically, but Marvel fans have already gone ahead and drawn up their own conclusions when it comes to Infinity War and Thor’s shiny new toy.

When asked about how Avengers: Infinity War handles the character of Thor, who will be making his first appearance in a Marvel ensemble since Age of Ultron, the Phase One Avenger said the following:

There is something pretty exciting coming. I think the fans will know and love and be excited for it.

Again, not exactly what one would call a concrete answer, but the introduction of Jarnbjorn has been rumored for years, and we can think of no better time to give Thor a much-needed upgrade than Marvel’s Infinity War.

Pitched as the most ambitious and ground-breaking entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date, one that will have far-reaching consequences for Phase 3 and beyond, Infinity War is expected to light up theaters on May 4th, 2018.
