Warner Bros. six-movie Arthurian franchise is destined to win over audiences when it arrives in multiplexes next summer. First out of the gate is Guy Ritchie’s Knights Of The Roundtable: King Arthur, a retooled version of King Arthur’s legend with Sons of Anarchy‘s Charlie Hunnam in the leading role alongside a talented cast of supporting characters.
Production kicked off a month ago and was marked with a commemorative first day selfie from Ritchie and Hunnam. A brief look at the world Arthur and his comrades will inhabit, it served more as a marketing reminder than a real look into the movie’s production.
With a month of shooting in the can, a batch of images have sprung up online to clue us into the movie’s ambitious scope. One sequence currently being filmed in the Welsh town of Conwy showcases the extensive use of the location’s natural landmarks and how easy it is to transform any British crag into a medieval screen locale. Even though most the images are taken from a distance, if you zoom in you can spot Hunnam, co-star Aiden Gillen and Ritchie himself in some of the snaps.

The bold new story introduces a streetwise young Arthur who runs the back alleys of Londonium with his gang, unaware of the life he was born for until he grasps hold of the sword Excalibur—and with it, his future. Instantly challenged by the power of Excalibur, Arthur is forced to make some hard choices. Throwing in with the Resistance and a mysterious young woman named Guinevere, he must learn to master the sword, face down his demons and unite the people to defeat the tyrant Vortigern, who stole his crown and murdered his parents, and become King.
