Behold ladies and gentlemen, the final trailer for Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight Rises! Though it’s set to play in front of The Avengers when the film hits theatres this Friday, it seems as if the trailer has crept out a bit early, hitting the internet tonight and surprising fans everywhere.

The grim and eerie trailer takes on a different tone than we saw in the last two but it’s certainly every bit as epic. You can really see the scope and scale that Nolan is going for here and this very well could be the darkest and most melancholic Batman film yet.

Also, I’m not sure if it’s just me but Bane’s voice sounds a lot clearer than it did in the prologue. It looks like Nolan made some significant changes, despite saying that he wouldn’t. Either way, it’s a welcome change. I also enjoyed Catwoman’s presence here, it looks like she’ll be a vital part of the story and I think Anne Hathaway has pulled off the role quite well. There’s also a quick glimpse of her fighting that looks awesome.

While the trailer didn’t give away too many of the action scenes and though the pacing was a bit slow for a superhero film trailer, it was still very effective and has me very, very excited.

I enjoyed the trailer a lot more than the first two and I really think that audiences are in for a spectacular finale to one of the best movie trilogies in recent memory.

The Dark Knight Rises hits theatres on July 20th, 2012
