Black Panther Duo Trace Shuri And M’Baku’s Journey Into Avengers: Infinity War

Ahead of Avengers: Infinity War, two of Black Panther's key cast members have explained how Shuri and M'Baku will squeeze into the Marvel ensemble piece.

With upwards of 76 Marvel characters lining its super-sized roster, Avengers: Infinity War has all the makings of a crowded (and breathless!) pre-summer blockbuster.

It’s far and away the biggest movie ever attempted by Marvel Studios – so far, at least – and Civil War duo Joe and Anthony Russo clearly brought all their experience to bear while shooting Infinity War and its untitled sequel. Expectations are through the roof, but at least for now, the spotlight has been placed squarely on Ryan Coogler’s standalone Black Panther movie – arguably the crown jewel in Marvel’s 2018 lineup.

With close to $430 million already under its belt, the T’Challa solo pic has wormed its way into the history books as one of the most successful superhero movies of all time. It’s a credit to Ryan Coogler and his kick-ass cast, then, that Black Panther has “obliterated expectations.”

Thankfully, many of those fresh faces will be returning in time for Avengers: Infinity War, and we now have some new intel about Shuri and M’Baku’s respective roles in the Marvel ensemble piece.

Via The Tracking Board, Winston Duke began by detailing M’Baku’s path to Infinity War, and why his Jabari Tribe pledge their support to T’Challa and his fight against Thanos, Marvel’s Mad Titan.

I think there’s just a lot going on Infinity War. In the same way that Black Panther is revolutionary in its approach to Marvel Cinematic Universe storytelling, I believe that Avengers: Infinity War will shake the cornerstone that we’ve grown accustomed to. It will shake the images and ideas that we’ve grown accustomed to, and it’s going to be a lot for the fans.

Shuri in Black Panther

Shuri, on the other hand, is the one tasked with nursing Bucky Barnes back to health – hang around after Black Panther‘s credits and you’ll catch a scene of the MCU’s brightest spark chatting with the fully-recovered Avenger.

Shuri will pop up and do what she needs to do. Avengers is going to be another world of amazingness. You guys are very, very blessed this year. Marvel is the gift that keeps on giving. You guys have got Black Panther, Avengers, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Captain Marvel. You guys are being spoiled. A lot. And then next year you have another Avengers? Very, very spoiled!

Very spoiled, indeed. And it all kicks off when Avengers: Infinity War zooms into theaters on May 4th.
