Does Boba Fett Have A Role In Solo: A Star Wars Story?

When it comes to the one and only Boba Fett, it's currently unclear where the character may appear next. At least, on the big screen. Star Wars fans might recall that a vehicle for the beloved bounty hunter was announced a few years ago, with Chronicle's Josh Trank attached to direct. After his career crashed and burned following 2014's Fantastic Four, however, the Boba Fett movie seemed to have been shelved indefinitely.

Back in August, though, we learned that Lucasfilm was thinking of resurrecting the project, and while it still sounds like they may move ahead with it, there’s been no tangible progress on the pic in quite some time. That’s ok, though, as it looks like we could see Fett show up a bit sooner than expected, as fans have reason to believe he may have a role in Ron Howard’s Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Take this with a massive pinch of salt, but the director recently Tweeted out a photo of himself and Paul Bettany. On the surface, there’s nothing particularly exciting about it, but look a little closer and you can almost make out a character in the background of the image in Mandalorian armor. Could this be our first look at Fett in the film?

If you ask us, it’s not too crazy to think that Boba Fett will be showing up in Solo: A Star Wars Story. After all, plot-wise, it’s understood that the film chronicles Han Solo’s journey between the ages of 16 and 24, “messing around in the unsavory Star Wars underworld, hanging out alongside crooks, smugglers, gangsters, and bounty hunters”

Then again, given that Howard reshot a lot more of Solo than was originally intended, it might be wise to discard any and all story rumors you’ve heard about Lucasfilm’s second Star Wars anthology movie.

Said to be influenced by old-school Westerns and heist films, Solo: A Star Wars Story has been pitched as a space-faring caper – fitting, really, given the titular character at its core – and it’ll be with us on May 25th, 2018.
