Shifting gears from the cavalcade of TV spots that have been pouring out for Star Trek Beyond, Paramount has now premiered the very first clip for Justin Lin’s spacefaring sequel, showcasing what happens when Bones (Karl Urban) has a dig at Spock (Zachary Quinto).

Now that cracks are beginning to appear in Quinto’s relationship with Zoe Saldana’s Uhura, Urban’s crew member can’t help but weigh in with his own two cents, much to the bemusement of Quinto’s stoic Vulcan.

Indeed, once the going gets tough, Star Trek Beyond will focus relatively heavily on Spock and Bones’ friendship (bromance?), with Urban stating previously that the dynamic between the pair “is complex. There is a great deal of humor, but it’s contextualized by the framework of jeopardy and danger of the situation that they’re in. I believe that their relationship really evolves, and you get to see them both kind of drop their guard and be who they really are around each other.”

Also on board for Paramount’s threequel are Chris Pine, Simon Pegg, Joe Taslim, Idris Elba as glowering newcomer Krall, John Cho and Anton Yelchin in what will sadly be a posthumous role.

Star Trek Beyond will zoom into theaters on July 22. Below you’ll find the threequel’s very first clip, along with yesterday’s stylish one-sheet that places Boutella’s Jaylah in the Captain’s chair.
