Brie Larson Rocks A Familiar Jacket In New Captain Marvel Set Pics

More set photos from the currently shooting Captain Marvel have arrived, this time showing us star Brie Larson in her Air Force gear.

Though we’ve yet to receive any official photos of Brie Larson in costume as the supercharged Carol Danvers, our longing for Captain Marvel (and the ’90s!) has been irrefutably fulfilled thanks to the deluge of leaked set photos that have emerged online over the past few weeks. And while they obviously aren’t as good as the real thing, we’ll take what we can get at this stage.

After all, it’s taken far too long for the fan favorite hero to receive the big-screen treatment, but after 10 years and 18 installments, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is finally ready to swing its doors open to Carol Danvers. And we couldn’t be more excited – even if we still don’t have an official look at Larson in the role.

While we wait for that to surface, the set photos continue to pour in and today, we’ve got two more. Seen in the gallery below, they’re far from revealing, but they do give us another glimpse at the aforementioned actress in character, sporting some Air Force gear as she gets ready to shoot a scene.

In fact, fans of the comics may recognize this particular outfit, as the jacket is pretty similar to the one seen on the cover of Captain Marvel (Vol. 7) #10 from writers Kelly Sue DeConnick and Christopher Sebela and artist Filipe Andrade.

Whether we’ll get to see the character in her classic red, blue and gold costume at any point is still unknown, but what we can tell you for now is that imbued with superhuman strength, speed and flight thanks to a near-death accident, Brie Larson’s former Air Force pilot promises to bring something truly special to the lineup of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes – think old-school Captain America mixed with “sassy, smartass” humor – when she’s seen alongside the ensemble cast of Avengers 4 early next year.

Behind the lens, the story’s been bent into shape by a pool of incredibly talented writers. Meg LeFauve (Inside Out) and Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) were the first to have a pass at Captain Marvel‘s script, before the so-hot-right-now Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Tomb Raider), Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch polished things up ahead of the pic’s release on March 8th, 2019.
