Catherine Hardwicke Isn’t Ruling Out A Twilight Spin-Off

With the announcement of a Harry Potter spin-off film coming in the form of Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, some have been wondering what other supposedly-dead franchises might be primed for a spin-off film. One franchise that I'm sure its fans would want more of is Twilight, and today, while talking to Catherine Hardwicke about her new film Plush, I had the opportunity to ask her about the possibility.

With the announcement of a Harry Potter spin-off film coming in the form of Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, some have been wondering what other supposedly-dead franchises might be primed for a spin-off film. One franchise that I’m sure its fans would want more of is Twilight, and today, while talking to Catherine Hardwicke about her new film Plush, I had the opportunity to ask her about the possibility.

While it isn’t in the works just yet, Hardwicke said that she isn’t ruling out the possibility of a spin-off and is definitely interested if author Stephenie Meyer has an idea for it.

Again, this isn’t happening right now, and it isn’t likely to happen any time soon, but it’s still fun to speculate on. When I asked Hardwicke if she would consider the possibility, here’s what she said:

Stephenie Meyer said she’s ready to move on from Twilight, but you never know. She’s a very creative person and she’s got a lot of great stories inside her, so if she came up with something cool, then yeah! Twilight has some interesting stuff.

While the Harry Potter universe is obviously rich with material for spin-off films, perhaps richer than any other recent film franchise, I’m sure something interesting could come out of the Twilight universe as well. And with as much money as the franchise has made so far, there’s absolutely no reason why the studio wouldn’t want to make some sort of spin-off. I wouldn’t even be surprised if Kristen Stewart or Robert Pattinson wanted to appear at some point, as they’d probably be paid handsomely for just a short time on set.

Twilight fans, what do you think? Would you be interested in seeing a Hardwicke-directed spin-off? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
