Chris Hemsworth Says Chris Evans “Cheaply” Copied His Beard For Avengers: Infinity War

Avengers: Infinity War saw the Avengers battle Thanos for the fate of the whole universe, but there was another - dare we say it, more significant - conflict going on behind the scenes: there was a battle of the beards between Chrises Hemsworth and Evans. Avengers: Infinity War saw Earth’s Mightiest Heroes battle Thanos for the fate of the entire universe, but there was another – dare we say it, more significant – conflict going on behind the scenes: a battle of the beards between Chrises Hemsworth and Evans. The former has, of course, sported some fine facial hair throughout his time in the MCU, but the latter only adopted a beard to try out a new look in the recent blockbuster. And Hemsworth isn’t happy about it.

While talking to Esquire, the actor jokingly told the outlet that he likes to think he was the “original” bearded Avenger. We’re not sure what Robert Downey Jr. would have to say about that, but Hemsworth went on to tease that he believes Evans “cheaply” copied his own beard for his appearance in Infinity War.

“I’d like to say I was the original, if that means anything. [Chris Evans] certainly, I feel like, copied me. Quite cheaply.”

Of course, Hemsworth actually holds a lot of affection for both Evans and all of his fellow comic book movie Chrises. Apart from those two, the Chris quartet is filled out by Wonder Woman‘s Chris Pine and the third Chris in Infinity War: Chris Pratt. The Australian star went on to say how he loves them all for different reasons, explaining:

“I have different affections for different reasons. Chris Pine is my son, on screen, with our Star Trek history. Chris Evans is probably my closest Avenger friend. And Chris Pratt and I, it’s the freshest, newest friendship. So I’m thankful for all of their high-fives and good times that we’ve had.”

With so many Chrises making it big in Hollywood right now, Hemsworth thinks he’s nailed exactly what it takes to succeed in acting – you just need to be called Chris and sport a few key facial features.

“People ask me, what’s your advice on getting into acting. I say, ‘Just have your name be Chris, and have brownish hair and blue eyes, and off you go. That’s the first step.’ It’s an automatic pass. [Laughs] It’s all kind of ridiculous, isn’t it.”

Chris Hemsworth will return alongside Chrises Evans and Pratt in next May’s Avengers 4Those of you who’re after more of the Hemsworth/Pine combination, though, know that Captain Kirk is expected to reunite with his dad in Star Trek 4.
