Christopher Nolan Wanted For Blade Runner Prequels/Sequels

Yesterday we heard the frightening news that Alcon Entertainment had bought the rights to Blade Runner and therefore the rights to produce sequels/prequels. I'm just glad that they have ruled out the possibility of a remake. Yesterday we heard the frightening news that Alcon Entertainment had bought the rights to Blade Runner and therefore the rights to produce sequels/prequels. I’m just glad that they have ruled out the possibility of a remake. In doing interviews about the recent news of their possession of the rights, the co-owners of Alcon said the person they want is Christopher Nolan.

Yeah our friend Chris Nolan who we did ‘Insomnia’ with would be in the pie in the sky for us I think the methodology that Chris Nolan brought to Batman is precisely what we aspire to whomever the filmmaker is, whether Ridley comes back and joins us or it’s someone else. It’s precisely what we aspire to with Blade Runner, that’s the template for us.

In the same interview they said that what was important to them was the blessing of Ridley Scott and allowing them to do what they want with it. I am skeptical, I’m not sure bringing Blade Runner back is such a good idea. I also have doubts as to if it would be a success financially and what the whole point of it is.

In my opinion, it is not only the greatest sci-fi movie ever made but also one of the greatest films of all time. Christopher Nolan is a great filmmaker and an extremely talented one who I’m sure could bring a fascinating vision to the screen, however I’m much more prepared for more of his original work or adaptations rather than another franchise. Regardless of who is at the helm it is something I’m happy I don’t have to deal with.
