Oscar-winning actress Dame Helen Mirren has done it all, it seems. Over the course of her impressive and prestigious career, the English rose has cemented her reputation as one of the most versatile actresses in the business across film, television and theater – accumulating a staggering amount of awards in the process. Now at the age of 69, one has to ask, what is there left to accomplish? Why, a role in Universal’s Fast and Furious franchise, of course!

Citing her action-filled stint on Robert Schwentke’s Red films, Mirren revealed her burning desire to get in on some of the ludicrous action of the street racing series, and to star alongside Vin Diesel himself.

My great ambition is to be in a Fast and Furious movie. I so want to be a mad driver in a Fast and Furious movie. My claim to fame is I always do my own driving — I was on Top Gear, and I did [my lap] in a very good time. I keep putting it out there, and they never ask me. I’ll be in Fast and Furious 8. I have to say Vin Diesel is brilliant. I love Vin Diesel. He’s a great guy, smart — I love him. It’s partly because of him I’d like to be in one, but also the driving. I’d also love to do another Red-type movie, because those are such fun to do.

And just when you thought April Fool’s had arrived a day in advance. Nevertheless, those of you who have seen Schwentke’s gleeful Red movies will have been exposed to Mirren’s badass action side. Besides, if Fast and Furious 8 really is to top the insane skydiving stunts of Furious 7, casting Helen Mirren in a supporting role would certainly be a good place to start.

Furious 7 will screech into theaters in time for April 3. For more on James Wan’s maiden entry into the series, be sure to check out our own review.
