With an Emmy and Golden Globe now under his belt thanks to some excellent work on Homeland, Damian Lewis is looking to beef up his film resume. Taking a step in the right direction, the actor has just joined Our Kind of Traitor, which Susanna White is set to helm.

Already set to star Ewan McGregor, Stellan Skarsgard and Naomie Harris, the Hossein Amini (Drive) scripted project is an adaptation of John le Carre’s novel of the same name. It follows an “English couple vacationing in Antigua who become entangled in the dealings of a Russian mobster desperate to defect.” Though no specifics were given on Lewis’ role, we do know that he’ll be playing a member of the British Intelligence.

Given how superbly the results were the last few times that Hollywood adapted one of le Carre’s novels (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and the upcoming A Most Wanted Man), I think it’s safe to say that everyone’s pretty excited for this one, and rightfully so.

While White’s work has mostly been in television, and her only feature to date is Nanny McPhee Returns, the talented cast and Amini’s involvement in the script is more than enough of a reason to put Our Kind of Traitor on your radar. It’s sure to be another thrilling le Carre adaptation and Lewis’ involvement only serves to further my excitement for it.

With shooting set to begin this month in London, it’s safe to assume that Our Kind of Traitor will hit sometime in early 2015, if not late 2014. Stay tuned as we’ll be sure to keep you posted!
