Damon Lindelof, most well known for his role as the primary writer on the television show LOST, has started writing the sequel to Star Trek, Star Trek 2. According to his Twitter he is back from his vacation (presumably the vacation he took to celebrate the end of LOST) and is now ready to start writing Star Trek 2.

Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, the guys behind Transformers and the original Star Trek, will help Lindelof with the script. The film is expected to hit theatres June 29, 2012. Orci and Kurtzman were quoted as saying:

“The sequel is really about, how does the team now that they are on their journey, live together as a family, so that is still a big engine of the narrative.”

They also suggested that the title will not be Star Trek 2, rather it will be Star Trek, followed by a subtitle.

Not much else is known about the film but we’ll keep you updated when we learn more.
