It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about Harry Potter alum Daniel Radcliffe’s upcoming collaboration with Piranha 3-D director Alexandre Aja, a horror flick titled Horns, but today, ahead of the project’s debut at Comic-Con, RADiUS-TWC is bringing us a new trailer, poster and release date for the movie.

Radcliffe stars in the dark thriller as Ig Perrish, who becomes the main suspect in the brutal rape and murder of his girlfriend (Juno Temple). When Ig wakes up one morning to find that he has sprouted horns with the uncanny ability to extract confessions from those around him, he sets out to find the real killer and exact revenge, both for his girlfriend’s death and his newfound reputation as a psychopath. The official synopsis doesn’t give us much more detail, but here it is if you’re interested:

Blamed for the death of his longtime girlfriend (Temple), a small-town guy (Radcliffe) awakens one morning to find a pair of horns growing from his head in this supernatural thriller from horror ace Alexandre Aja (HAUTE TENSION, PIRANHA 3D).

The first trailer smartly highlights Radcliffe’s performance while emphasizing the film’s gritty genre stylings. Though the fact that Horns, which co-stars Max Minghella, James Remar, Joe Anderson and Kelli Garner, is being set for a simultaneous theatrical/VOD release doesn’t bode too well for RADiUS-TWC’s financial expectations, the talent involved with Horns gives us hope that the film will be able to add something fresh to the supernatural thriller genre. After all, Radcliffe nailed his last horror role (in slow-burn chiller The Woman in Black) and Aja has certainly proven himself a skilled horror maestro with films like The Hills Have Eyes and Mirrors.

We’ll find out when Horns is released this Halloween, on October 31st. In the meantime, you can check out the trailer and an intriguing new poster below.
