The Playlist is reporting that Daniel Radcliffe may lend his voice to play Pinocchio in Guillermo Del Toro‘s upcoming film. The stop-motion animated version of the classic tale will see Del Toro teaming with Fantastic Mr. Fox animation director Mark Gustafson to bring us a unique take on the story of Pinocchio.

According to Del Toro, Radcliffe approached him and expressed interest. Nothing has been confirmed and no deal has been made but as The Playlist points out, if Del Toro is willing to make the knowledge public, it’s probably pretty likely that Radcliffe will sign on.

Personally, I’m not sure why Radcliffe would hop on board a project like this. He needs to shed his Harry Potter image and to do so, he should be putting his face in front of the camera, not doing voice work.

That being said, going with Del Toro is usually a safe bet, so perhaps this is a good career choice?
