The Dark Knight Rises Viral Campaign Begins

To be honest, I hate viral campaigns. I just don't care for them and have never really participated in any of them. I figure it's easier to let others do the work to unlock the material while I sit back and keep my eye on the internet as the rewards pop up. And that's exactly what I'll do for the latest viral campaign to hit the internet, which happens to be for The Dark Knight Rises.

To be honest, I hate viral campaigns. I just don’t care for them and have never really participated in any of them. I figure it’s easier to let others do the work to unlock the material while I sit back and keep my eye on the internet as the rewards pop up. And that’s exactly what I’ll do for the latest viral campaign to hit the internet, which happens to be for The Dark Knight Rises.

In an attempt to take away some of the steam from the juggernaut that is The Avengers, Warner Bros. is starting their marketing blitz for The Dark Knight Rises and today they’ve launched a viral campaign. If you head on over to the film’s official website, you’ll be welcomed with a dossier detailing the hunt for Batman. If you flip through to the end, you’ll find the following instructions.

“Submit photographic evidence of graffiti related to any movement in support of the vigilante’s return. Make sure that location services or store location is on in your camera settings. Report any and all information pertaining to the investigation to the designated contact (#tdkr07202012 or [email protected])”

Addresses in North America went live at 8am PST so they should be up by now.

So far, a number of locations have been sent in and below you can find a collection of trailer stills that the eager beavers out there have unlocked. Remember, the full trailer will debut this Friday in front of The Avengers but it’s likely that those participating in the viral campaign will unlock it before then.

Like I said folks, just sit back and let others do the work.
