Not only is the second season of Stranger Things due to premiere via Netflix, but on the big screen, horror fans will be flocking to see Jigsaw and Leatherface, two very different continuations to two very different, yet equally terrifying franchises.

On the one hand, Jigsaw will begin a new murderous spiel on October 20th, with all signs pointing to John Kramer returning in some shape or form, whereas Leatherface is all about the origin story behind Tobe Hooper’s famous Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Widely considered to be one of the most influential horror films of the ’80s – if not all time – Julian Maury and Alexandre Bustillo’s nightmarish prequel is walking in the footsteps of greatness and today, we have a brand new clip for you to feast on ahead of the film’s imminent premiere. It’s not much, but it sets the tone for the movie and has us hopeful that it’ll deliver when it arrives later this week.

Starring Lili Taylor as Verne Sawyer, Sam Coleman as Bud, Sam Strike as Jackson, James Bloor as Ike and Jessica Madsen as Clarice, the official plot synopsis for the prequel reads as so:

In Texas, years before the events of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, in the early days of the infamous Sawyer family, the youngest child is sentenced to a mental hospital after a suspicious incident leaves the sheriffs’ daughter dead. Ten years later, he kidnaps a young nurse and escapes with 3 other inmates. Pursued by authorities including the deranged sheriff out to avenge his daughter’s death, the young Sawyer teen goes on a violent road trip from hell, molding him into the monster known now as Leatherface.

Leatherface has already clawed its way onto DirecTV and will remain exclusive to the platform for a few more days, before Lionsgate launches Maury and Bustillo’s nightmarish horror flick into select theaters on October 20th.
