Five days ago, Ryan Reynolds and 20th Century Fox served up a dose of premium Cable with the first full-blown (and profanity-filled!) trailer for Deadpool 2.
And though the Merc With a Mouth threatened to hog the limelight with his makeshift toy show, Fox’s preview was really all about Cable (AKA Nathan Summers), the one-eyed bandit who will be making his screen debut alongside fellow mutant, Domino (Zazie Beetz), later this year.
But as this is February 12th, the Deadpool camp has been busy celebrating Josh Brolin’s birthday, beginning with a cheeky and indeed nostalgic portrait drawn up by Wade Wilson himself. It’s a typically irreverent image from ‘Pool, who harks back to Brolin’s days on The Goonies.
Leave it to Rob Liefeld, then, to bring some sincerity back into the picture. Via Instagram, the Deadpool creator and all-around comic book veteran posted a set photo (seen in the gallery below, along with the aforementioned one) of him standing next to the musclebound Brolin.
The caption was as follows:
This is what 100 years of awesome looks like! BOOM! The half century club just got a whole lot cooler!! Just wait until the 200 years of awesome photo! #BROLINaisaance #cable #deadpool #50 #fifty #50yearsold p.s. I had to give that cool glove back!
Once Josh Brolin tends to villain duties on Avengers: Infinity War – remember, he’ll be reprising his role as Marvel über-villain, Thanos – the 50-year-old star will be back on our screens for Deadpool 2 on May 18th.
Rumor has it that 20th Century Fox plans to release the sequel as Deadpool: The Second Coming, though we’ve yet to hear any update on that front just yet. Be that as it may, we will continue to keep you right up-to-date as the Merc’s second adventure inches ever closer.
