Deadpool 2 Screenshots Skip Past Reynolds’ Bob Ross Impression And Get Straight To The Action

Ryan Reynolds may have gone full Bob Ross in this morning's Deadpool 2 teaser, but these high-res screenshots bring you closer to the action.

Leave it to Ryan Reynolds and Co. to one-up just about every other cinematic marketing campaign with the brazen, tongue-in-cheek teaser for Deadpool 2.

Embedded above, we begin with a mellow painting tutorial from Bob Ross Wade Wilson, who cracks NSFW jokes and silly innuendoes like they’re going out of fashion. But stick around until the 1:30 mark and you’ll be rewarded with the very first promo for Deadpool 2, and it’s fair to say that David Leitch and his editing team have crammed an awful lot of material into this 10-second window.

Thankfully, Collider was on hand to capture a series of high-res screenshots, beginning with an up-close look at Brianna Hildebrand’s Negasonic Teenage Warhead kitted out in her X-Men gear. There’s also a sneak peek at Julian Dennison’s fiery mutant, Domino (Zazie Beetz) kicking down a door, and Blind Al wielding a pistol. Because who said Leslie Uggams couldn’t get any more badass?

One thing worth keeping in mind is that this gallery doesn’t include the shot of Wade Wilson lobbing a powered-up chainsaw into the air, or the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it scene featuring the heavily armored transport truck spotted on set in Vancouver.

Another thing worth mentioning is that 20th Century Fox’s media dump refers to the film as the “Untitled Deadpool Sequel,” meaning a title reveal can’t be too far away. Given the meteoric success of its predecessor, Deadpool 2 would’ve worked just fine, but it seems both Reynolds and David Leitch have another surprise up their collective sleeve.

Speaking of which, here’s the official synopsis, if that’s what you want to call it:

After surviving a near-fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.

The Merc With a Mouth shoots for theaters on June 1st, 2018, though you can leave your initial thoughts on Deadpool 2 via the usual place.
