Deadpool And Hugh Jackman Poke Fun At Disney In CinemaCon Video

Fox's CinemaCon presentation began on a lighter note, as Deadpool teamed with Hugh Jackman in order to poke fun at Disney.

Not for the first time, the Merc With a Mouth has aimed a dig at Disney. Only this time, he’s brought a friend – Hugh Jackman, to be specific, who starred alongside a fully-costumed Deadpool for 20th Century Fox’s pre-CinemaCon opener.

It was a presentation that heralded new story intel (and some blood-drenched footage!) for The Predator along with a sneak peek at Dark Phoenix‘s fiery logo, but according to those in attendance, Fox’s intro sketch drew the biggest laugh. And it’s probably the closest we’re going to get to that fabled team-up movie involving Wolverine and the Merc With a Mouth.

At the time of writing, 20th Century Fox is yet to release anything online – and chances are it won’t, given the musical clip appears to have been designed as a crowd-pleasing opener to the CinemaCon presentation – but ComicBook.com has delivered the next best thing: a detailed description of the footage shown, which had Hugh Jackman and Deadpool rip into the studio’s distribution chief, Chris Aronson, and the Mouse House.

The video begins with Deadpool greeting the crowd. He says he is “really busy making clocks or memories or whatever” and suggests the theater owners both put Deadpool 2 on more screens and use the rest of their time to cheat on their spouses.

The description continues:

The video cuts back and Aronson wakes up, Deadpool tells him he’s “f—ed” and Hugh Jackman walks out of the bathroom to double down on the message. Aronson rushes over to CinemaCon for the presentation and Deadpool and Hugh Jackman talk. “Looks like Comcast really dodged a bullet, huh?” Deadpool says, before asking Hugh if he’s still working out. They walk off and Pluto emerges from behind the bed and stumbles out of the room.

And in case you missed it, or weren’t aware of the company’s proposition, Comcast emerged as a potential suitor in the Fox acquisition, before the Mouse House ultimately doubled down on its advances. The deal is yet to be fully consummated, but it’s looking increasingly likely that the Merc and Co. are bound for Disney and, by effect, Marvel Studios.

But perhaps more than anything else, Fox’s CinemaCon showcase leaves us with one question: will Hugh Jackman cameo as himself for Deadpool 2? We’ll find out on May 18th.
