Deadpool Gets A New Logo And Synopsis

On top of this morning's exciting (and eerily saucy) reveal of Ryan Reynolds in costume as Deadpool, 20th Century Fox has kickstarted what appears to be the beginning of the marketing campaign for the film, which includes the launch of the movie's official Twitter account and website, along with the first logo and synopsis.

On top of this morning’s exciting (and eerily saucy) reveal of Ryan Reynolds in costume as Deadpool20th Century Fox has kickstarted what appears to be the beginning of the marketing campaign for the film, which includes the launch of the movie’s official Twitter account and website, along with the first logo and synopsis.

The logo itself is pretty straightforward, and what we’ve come to expect from a comic book adaptation. The synopsis is the real gem here, as it gives us the overall story for the film and confirms that the Merc with a Mouth will indeed have his trademark sense of dark humor when he finally gets the solo outing we’ve been waiting for:

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

That sounds like it fits right in line with the excellent test footage that “leaked” last year, which should make Deadpool fans very, very happy.

Directed by Tim Miller, Deadpool will (finally) blast into theaters on February 12th, 2016. Reynolds is joined by Morena Baccarin (Firefly, Homeland) T.J. Miller (Big Hero 6), Ed Skrein (The Transporter Refueled), and Gina Carano (Haywire).
