Last month, X-Men franchise producer Simon Kinberg revealed that a new trailer for Deadpool will be with us before the end of 2015, and we now know that it’s going to be released on Christmas Day. That’s certainly a unique date, but Fox has smartly chosen to premiere it during The NBA on ESPN, ensuring that it gets a ton of attention.

In addition to the trailer, a special 30 second teaser will play before Star Wars: The Force Awakens on IMAX screens, though that’s unlikely to be released online. Speculation currently points to it either announcing the premiere date of this trailer or simply poking fun at Star Wars in typical Deadpool fashion (which you have to believe would be a lot of fun).

Deadpool is one of 2016’s most highly anticipated comic book movies and this trailer is certainly long overdue. Christmas is usually very quiet for movie news (as is this time of year in general) as well, so the Merc with a Mouth has a chance to really dominate that day.

Be sure to check back on the 25th as we’ll have the trailer for you as soon as it lands.
