Disney Brings Star Wars: The Last Jedi Behind The Scenes Featurette To D23

As expected, Disney showed up to D23 today with a special behind the scenes reel for Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Unfortunately, it doesn’t really give us too much in the way of footage from the film itself – which we expected – but it does provide a nice idea of what goes into making a movie like this.

Comprised of interviews with the cast and crew, some very cool behind the scenes looks at gorgeous locations and dangerous stunts, and triumphant music playing throughout, it might not be that second trailer that everyone’s waiting for, but it’s definitely the next best thing – giving us a peak at some of the sure to be epic scenes that we’ll see in a few months’ time on the big screen. Not to mention the parts with Carrie Fisher are quite touching and might just bring a tear to your eye.

Other than that, there’s not a whole lot in the way of “new” information that can be learned from this latest promo for the film, but it’s definitely enough to tide us over until the next trailer arrives. It’s great to see all the characters, both old and new, again and if nothing else, this featurette serves as a very tantalizing taste of what’s to come later this year.

Said to balance the “familiar with the unfamiliar” and lay down a new series of rules for this most precious of cinematic universes, Star Wars: The Last Jedi has been penciled in for release on December 15th. It’ll be followed in relatively quick succession by Ron Howard’s Han Solo spinoff before Colin Trevorrow brings the curtain down on Disney’s rebooted trilogy with the release of Episode IX in May of 2019.
