Nicolas Cage gets a pretty bad rap for many of his performances, something which isn’t helped by the fact that the actor appears to be happy to say yes to anything and everything he’s offered. However, there are a long list of movies in which he’s delivered some truly great turns, with Joe and Kick-Ass acting as just a couple of fairly recent examples.
So, despite the fact that he now spends much of his time starring in direct to VOD movies you’ve probably never even heard of, Cage’s wishlist of filmmakers he would like to team-up should still get you pretty excited.
“I would love to work with Paul Thomas Anderson. I think that he’s one of the greats. And he’s certainly a true artist. Quentin Tarantino and I, the two of us could really do something quite special. But I remain positive and hopeful that it will eventually happen.”
Nicolas Cage in a Tarantino movie is definitely something which has huge potential, but has the actor damaged his credibility with the projects he’s chosen in recent years? Not necessarily, and it’s easy to imagine both of these filmmakers coming up with something special for him. In fact, perhaps Cage is on the verge of his very own “McConaissance.”
Time will tell on that front, but Nicolas Cage is an actor with plenty of gas left in the tank and more than enough time to remind us that he’s actually pretty damn great when he wants to be.
