Director Duncan Jones’ upcoming adaptation of the popular video-game World of Warcraft now has a release date. Simply titled Warcraft, Universal Pictures has penciled it in for December 18th, 2015.

Casting is currently underway for the film, with Colin Farrell and Paula Patton both being linked to lead roles. Nothing has been confirmed just yet, unfortunately, but with production set to begin early next year, hopefully we’ll have some official casting news shortly.

Story details have also been tough to come by but from what we’re hearing, the film will place its focus on an individual named Khadgar, a “young consul to the Kirin Tor senate, rulers of the city of Dalaran, who is charged with investigating a series of crimes that have rocked the city, but as we go on, we’ll find that his mission leads him into a quest beyond the city walls.”

Though I never got into World of Warcraft, the film sounds like it could be pretty cool, especially with the talented Jones behind the camera. I loved his debut and sophomore films (Moon and Source Code) and I’m eager to see what he does with a big blockbuster like this.

Tell us, are you excited to see Warcraft? What are your expectations for the film? Let us know in the comments section below.
