News for upcoming Expendables sequel has been coming out left and right. We reported back in April that Sylvester Stallone will not be directing the sequel, but Sly’s name has been attached and detached from director duties for quite some time now and until an official director is announced, I wouldn’t count Stallone out just yet.

In addition to the news about Stallone, we also reported that Jean Claude Van Damme may be playing the villain, which was big news considering he was one of the only B list actors that didn’t appear in the first film in any way.

This brings us to the newest teaser poster that has surfaced for The Expendables 2. First Showing stumbled upon this teaser poster while browsing a magazine in Cannes. It can be viewed below along with the official synopsis:

The Expendables are back and this time it’s personal! After Tool (Mickey Rourke), the heart and soul of the Expendables, is brutally murdered on a mission, his comrades swear to avenge him. They’re not the only ones who want blood. Tool’s beautiful young and wild daughter Fiona embarks on her own revenge mission, complicating matters when she is captured and ransomed by a ruthless dictator plotting to destroy a resistance movement. Now Barney and the Expendables must risk everything to save her and humanity.

The poster brings back the same skull that debuted with the first film’s poster. Production hasn’t even begun on the film yet and I am already somewhat excited. I thought the first film was a letdown considering the amount of talent they had, but maybe with Stallone out of the director’s chair they can hire a more competent person to direct all of these stars.

The Expendables 2 stars Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Steven Austin, Terry Crews, Randy Couture, Mickey Rourke and Bruce Willis and it is being released on August 17th, 2012.
