The Hollywood Reporter is telling us today that The Expendables 4 is now set for 2018 and will be the final film in the explosive action series. Details on the project remain scarce, as we don’t have any indication of when exactly in 2018 it’ll arrive or which actors will be back for more, but we can confirm that it is coming and will be the last outing – at least, we hope.
We say that because while The Expendables was a fun romp featuring some larger than life action stars, the series has since gone downhill. Its charm started to wear thin by the second outing and when it came time for The Expendables 3, audiences had seemingly grown tired of the shenanigans. Still, it appears as if the box office numbers were strong enough to get one more sequel and so, we now arrive at The Expendables 4.
We imagine that Sylvester Stallone will be back to reprise the role of Barney Ross once more, while Jason Statham, Terry Crews and Dolph Lundgren seem like good bets as well. Aside from them though, it’s anyone’s guess as to what kind of motley crew the filmmakers will round up for this last hurrah. Given that it’s the final entry in the series though, you can bet that they’ll pull in some big names.
