Matthew Vaughn Talks Fantastic Four, First Trailer Hits Next Month

Of all the upcoming blockbusters set to hit theaters this year, the most mysterious and divisive may just be Josh Trank's reboot of The Fantastic Four. Part of that has to do with the controversial slew of information that's leaked regarding possible origin story and character changes, while the rest of the blame lies squarely on 20th Century Fox's shoulders. That's because the studio has done absolutely nothing to quash our doubts about the project, and have given the highly-anticipated comic book film absolutely no marketing whatsoever despite the fact that it hits cinema screens in just seven months.

Of all the upcoming blockbusters set to hit theaters this year, the most mysterious and divisive may just be Josh Trank’s reboot of The Fantastic Four. Part of that has to do with controversial casting and character origin changes, while the rest of the blame lies squarely on 20th Century Fox’s shoulders. That’s because the studio has given the highly-anticipated comic book film absolutely no marketing whatsoever, despite the fact that it hits cinema screens in just seven months.

Thankfully, that’s all about to change (because they have to release something about the film before its release, right?). According to The Projection List, the first trailer for Fantastic Four will arrive alongside Matthew Vaughn’s comic book film Kingsman: The Secret Service along with new trailers for Furious 7, Magic Mike XXL and The Man from U.N.C.L.E.

Vaughn himself recently spoke with Flickering Myth, and revealed that he’s already seen Trank’s take on Fantastic Four. His thoughts? Cautiously positive:

“I’ve seen the movie, it’s good. I thought Chronicle was a fantastic movie and [Josh] Trank has gone off and done his version of Fantastic Four. If you like Chronicle, then you’ll like this. We’re all backing Josh Trank’s vision and hopefully the world will like Josh Trank’s vision.”

I guess we’ll see if the world likes what Trank’s done with the super-powered foursome when Kingsman: The Secret Service hits theaters on February 13th, 2015.

Starring Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell, Michael B. Jordan and Toby Kebbell, Fantastic Four hits theaters on August 7th, 2015.
