A few weeks ago Felicity Jones may have accidentally revealed who she’s playing in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, causing a fair bit of excitement among Spidey fans. Her reveal wasn’t necessarily through anything she said, but rather through her uncomfortable reaction to an interviewer’s question. While some said drawing the conclusion that Jones is playing Black Cat from that small reaction is a stretch, the quote we have from her today gives a much more definite reveal for the franchise.

In an interview with View London, Jones still wouldn’t reveal her character’s name, saying she’s sworn to secrecy, but she did reveal where her character’s allegiance lies, and who she’s in a relationship with. Check out that quote below.

“It’s all quite shrouded in secrecy, but I’m the Goblin’s girlfriend – I’m in a relationship with him, and his accomplice. I’m on the dark side.”

Despite not specifically saying it, it’s hard to draw any other conclusion than Jones is playing Felicia Hardy aka the Black Cat. Her comment that she’s dating the Goblin is also very interesting considering it’d likely be too drastic of an age difference to have her dating Norman Osborn (Chris Cooper). It’s much more likely that she’s dating Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), which would mean that Harry will indeed take up the Goblin mask soon.

It’ll be interesting to see how many of these villains are actually in the upcoming film and how many are simply introduced for later use. We’ve now got word of Electro, Rhino, the Green Goblin, the Vulture, and Black Cat. Plus the Lizard is still festering in jail as far as we know. That would lead to a major villain overload if Marc Webb decides to utilize them all in TASM2, but I highly doubt that’s the route he’s going to take. I’d guess that Jones will only be Felicia Hardy in this movie, and Colm Feore will stay Adrian Toomes, not the Vulture. But who knows, Webb may toss in the whole Sinister Six before all is said and done, and that, if done well, would be absolutely awesome.
