Paramount Pictures’ long-awaited comedy sequel Zoolander 2 is barrelling down on its February 12 release, and to celebrate, the studio has debuted the final full-length trailer for the fashion bonanza, welcoming back Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson’s male models with a bang.
There’s also the return of Justin Theroux’s deranged DJ in today’s sizzle reel, who proceeds to fire up a remixed version of “Relax” by Frankie Goes to Hollywood, setting a chain of events in motion that are a vibrant mix of flashy costumes and explosive set-pieces.
Outside of Stiller’s numerous (read: homogenized) poses, Zoolander 2 largely revolves around the return of Will Ferrell’s business mogul Mugatu, who has been busy plotting an unspeakable masterplan to bump off all the major players in the fashion world. Story naturally takes a back seat, though, and the pitch for Paramount’s sequel is as much about introducing an array of cameos than genuine character development – and really, that’s OK.
Alongside Wilson and Stiller for the romp are Penélope Cruz, Christine Taylor, an almost unrecognizable Kristen Wiig, Will Ferrell and Cyrus Arnold. As for the list of cameos, fans of the original can look forward to Billy Zane making an appearance, not to mention Fred Armisen, Justin Bieber, Kyle Mooney, Kim Kardashian, Ariana Grande, and many more.
Zoolander 2 is aiming to steal Deadpool‘s thunder when it release in theaters on February 12. Stiller’s sequel hails from the opposite end of the comedy spectrum, so it’d be unfair to compare and contrast, though it’ll make for an interesting competition at next weekend’s box office.
