Finn Draws His Lightsaber In Brief New Clip For Star Wars: The Force Awakens

There has been an awakening, have you felt it? Granted these past few weeks have doubled down on the Dark Side of the Force, as we learned more about the Neo-Nazi organization known as the First Order, the Knights of Ren along with Gwendoline Christie’s Captain Phasma and Domhnall Gleeson playing the devious, power-mongering General Hux.

There has been an awakening, have you felt it? Granted, these past few weeks have doubled down on the Dark Side of the Force, as we learned more about the Neo-Nazi organization known as the First Order, the Knights of Ren along with Gwendoline Christie’s Captain Phasma and Domhnall Gleeson playing the devious, power-mongering General Hux.

Now, it’s time to focus on the brighter side of the galaxy far, far away after the film’s official Instagram feed shared a new, all-too-brief clip for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which you can feast your eyes on below.

Essentially, there are four primary shots in the footage – well, we did say it was all-too-brief – with the first showcasing Gleeson’s General Hux addressing the legions of Stormtroopers all suited up and ready for battle. Without further ado, here’s the hot off the presses clip in full.

From here, the clip jumps to Daisy Ridley’s Rey, alongside budding droid-cum-hero BB-8, as she looks on in fear toward what will purportedly by the First Order’s new weapon. Death Star 3.0?

Next up is Driver’s Kylo Ren who is, crucially, not a Sith Lord but still a galactic menace that poises a big threat to our allies. It’s ostensibly the same shot from the first teaser trailer released last year, though the real kicker arrives at the tail-end of the footage when John Boyega’s Finn fires up his Lightsaber on the snowy planet, presumably ready to duel Ren and his cross-guard saber.

Finn’s affiliations with the Force have long been hinted at across the marketing campaign for The Force Awakens, with the most recent – and overt – showcased within Drew Struzan’s excellent D23 artwork. Perhaps even more exciting is that today’s teaser is likely the warm-up act for the film’s first bona fide trailer. After effectively ramping up excitement with two fleeting teasers (along with today’s), we can only imagine what J.J. Abrams and Co. have in store over the coming weeks.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens will blast into theaters on December 18.
