Let The Fireworks Begin In Ridiculous Full Trailer For Sharknado 2: The Second One

"You know what they say, don't you?" One character asks in the absolutely absurd (and totally hilarious) trailer for Syfy's upcoming trailer for Sharknado 2: The Second One. "Jump the shark." It's a line only a Syfy original movie could get away with - and the trailer for this particular schlockfest appears filled with similar groan-inducers.

“You know what they say, don’t you?” One character asks in the absolutely absurd (and totally hilarious) trailer for Syfy’s upcoming trailer for Sharknado 2: The Second One. “Jump the shark.” It’s a line only a Syfy original movie could get away with – and the trailer for this particular schlockfest appears filled with similar groan-inducers.

But of course, anyone who sits down to watch Sharknado 2: The Second One (that title alone should tell you something) probably isn’t wanting Oscar-worthy dialogue. The focus in this trailer is rightly on the nutty spectacle of watching thousands of hungry sharks descend via waterspout onto terrified New Yorkers – and in spite of the stupidity at this B-movie’s core, I laughed. And because of that, I now know what my plans are for July 3oth.

In this sequel, protagonists Fin (Ian Ziering) and April (Tara Reid) return to warn New York City about an impending Sharknado. Of course, when the storm comes, the pair find themselves obliged to take up chainsaws and various other weapons against the sharks – and of course things get kind of crazy. Fittingly, Sharknado 2 looks to up the ante, with a decapitated Statue of Liberty (I definitely don’t want to meet the shark who did that) and a storm encircling the Empire State Building. The effects also look a bit more impressive, especially the above shot of Fin wielding a chainsaw against an incoming shark (because physics be damned, he’s gonna cut that sucker in two).

Newcomers for Sharknado 2: The Second One include Vivica A. Fox, Kari Wuhrer, Kelly Osbourne, Benjy Bronk, Judah Friedlander, Andy Dick and current Total Nonstop Action Wrestling and former WWE superstar Kurt Angle. Fox in particular seems like a pitch-perfect addition to this unlikely franchise – I’ll be looking forward to seeing exactly what her seemingly deranged character means by “fireworks.”

Sharknado 2: The Second One touches down July 30th on Syfy.
