First Look At Metallica’s James Hetfield In Extremely Wicked, Shocking Evil, And Vile

It was only a few days ago that we heard Metallica frontman James Hetfield had joined Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile, the upcoming Ted Bundy movie from director Joe Berlinger. From what we understand, he'll play Officer Bob Hayward, "a no-nonsense Utah highway patrol veteran who was the first law enforcement officer to arrest Bundy in 1975 after pulling the killer over and discovering burglary tools in his car, but wisely suspecting much worse."

Well, that didn’t take long.

It was only a few days ago that we heard Metallica frontman James Hetfield had joined Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile, the upcoming Ted Bundy movie from director Joe Berlinger. From what we understand, he’ll play Officer Bob Hayward, “a no-nonsense Utah highway patrol veteran who was the first law enforcement officer to arrest Bundy in 1975 after pulling the killer over and discovering burglary tools in his car, but wisely suspecting much worse.”

We’re unsure of how large a role it is, but it’s nice to see the singer climbing on board the project regardless and now, we’ve got our first look at him in the film. Down in the gallery below, along with a few other recent set pics, you’ll be able to catch a glimpse of Hetfield as Hayward, seemingly interrogating Bundy (Zac Efron) while Berlinger directs the scene. It’s not terribly revealing, but it’s a welcome sneak peek at the movie nonetheless.

The upcoming psychological thriller is based on the Black List script from Michael Werwie and though we don’t know too much about it just yet, it’s been described as being in the vein of Nightcrawler and The Jinx, with the story being told through the perspective of Elizabeth Kloepfer, Bundy’s girlfriend who eventually turned him into the police.

That’ll present an interesting point of view for us to explore Ted from and we’re excited to see how it all turns out in the end. Speaking of which, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile doesn’t have a release date to call its own just yet, but with things heating up, we imagine that’ll change quite soon. And when it does, we’ll be sure to let you know.
