With a premiere slated for July 31, Syfy has today unleashed the bonkers first teaser for Sharknado: The 4th Awakens, sending a sea of airborne sharks barreling down on Las Vegas.

Thrust into the eye of that storm is Ian Ziering’s appropriately named Fin, who tees up a family break to Sin City that quickly descends into chaos when the shit starts to hit the fan – to put it mildly. Even for such a short teaser and in true Sharknado fashion, the snippet below crams in a fair amount of jaw-dropping scenes, including a stripper literally crotch-thrusting a shark to kingdom come and, in keeping with the spirit of Las Vegas, an Elvis impersonator caught amid the action.

One thing that is missing from the teaser, however, is overt references to Star Wars. That scarcity is largely rectified thanks to the wonderfully OTT poster embedded below, teasing some of the cameo appearances in the sequel, including Stacey Dash, Duane Chapman (a.k.a. Dog the Bounty Hunter), Slipknot’s Corey Taylor, Mötley Crüe’s Vince Neil, Dave Faustino, Dr. Drew Pinsky, Patti Stanger.

There’s also the promise of some closure with The 4th Awakens, after Syfy hosted a straw poll on Twitter asking fans to decide the fate of Tara Reid’s character, April. Here’s the official logline: “Fin (Ian Ziering), his family and the cosmos have been blissfully sharknado-free in the intervening years, but now sharks – and ‘nados! – are being whipped up in places (and ways) least expected.”

Viva Las Vegas! Sharknado: The 4th Awakens is pegged to unleash chaos on the famous strip when Anthony C. Ferrante’s sequel premieres via Syfy on July 31.
