When it comes to a film starring Jason Statham, you almost always know what you’re getting into before the opening credits even begin rolling. The British actor is about as bankable as they come, and following a string of  balls-to-the-wall performances in The Expendables, Crank and The Transporter, Statham — or “The Stath,” if you prefer — has grown into a bona fide action star, and his latest role is no different.

Starring as an ex-marine with a crippling gambling addiction, Statham is set to topline Simon West’s Wild Card, a revenge tale situated within Sin City itself. In essence, the film is a remake William Goldman’s novel Heat — no, not that Heat — which originally arrived back in 1986, but thanks to a number of production issues that included director changeovers, the thriller was never given a chance in the limelight.

And so, with West and Statham both on board — the pair have previously collaborated The Mechanic and The Expendables 2Wild Card is barreling down on its December release in the States. The action flick will also star Michael Angarano, Hope Davis, Milo Ventimiglia, Stanley Tucci, Jason Alexander, Sofía Vergara, and Anne Heche.
