Bringing together Slumdog Millionaire star Freida Pinto and Ryan Kwanten as John, the film opens with the latter character, a dueller disillusioned after he no longer feels the adrenaline rush from his daring sport of choice. That leaves Kwanten’s protagonist with one choice: to seek out and find the elusive Zorringer (Mickey Rourke) and challenge who many consider to be the true expert in the field. Along this journey he’ll cross paths with Pinto’s Colt, and the pair have been described as “gunfighters and sometimes lovers, on parallel but very different journeys through an underground dueling culture.”

Though the plot doesn’t exactly leap off the page, the international trailer harbors enough gritty action and stylized set-pieces to hold our interest. If that doesn’t suit your fancy, there’s also a shot of Micky Rourke standing next to what we can only assume to be his pet parrot. Because what’s a good villain without an idiosyncrasy to call his own?

Blunt Force Trauma is currently slated for a DVD release on October 6.

The Effects of Blunt Force Trauma follows the journey of an expert professional dueler named John (Kwanten), who is losing the rush of excitement that once fueled his desire to succeed in his sport of choice. Only one man remains as his next worthy opponent, the legendary Zorringer (Mickey Rourke), but the picky legend might not want to go against John for reasons of his own. So John sets out on a journey for the ultimate contest. Along the way he meets Colt (Pinto), a female duelist, and together they embark on a quest of self-discovery.
