Not only does it boast an envious cast and crew, with The Incredibles‘ Brad Bird also at the helm, but the concept lurking at the core is equal parts mysterious and awe-inspiring, and that feeling is compounded following the release of the film’s full-length trailer. Hot on the heels of Friday’s wondrous poster, the clip devotes much more screen time to the titular alternate reality, a place where “the best and brightest people in the world came together to change it.”

Revolving around Britt Robertson’s Casey, Tomorrowland will tell the tale of her journey alongside the world-weary Frank (George Clooney) as they both look to peel back the intriguing layers on the futuristic city, all the while discovering their role in its ultimate fate. Disney has long trumpeted the film’s old school sensibilities, and some of the visuals on display here definitely harken back to the science fiction films of yesteryear — including a money shot of the Eiffel Tower toward the end.

With Hugh Laurie, Raffey Cassidy, Tim McGraw, Judy Greer, Kathryn Hahn, Keegan-Michael Key, and Thomas Robinson rounding out the cast, you can color us cautiously optimistic.

Brad Bird will whisk audiences to the titular utopia when Tomorrowland arrives in theaters on May 22, 2015 here in the States.

From Disney comes two-time Oscar® winner Brad Bird’s riveting, mystery adventure “Tomorrowland,” starring Academy Award® winner George Clooney. Bound by a shared destiny, former boy-genius Frank (Clooney), jaded by disillusionment, and Casey (Britt Robertson), a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity, embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space known only as “Tomorrowland.” What they must do there changes the world—and them—forever. Featuring a screenplay by “Lost” writer and co-creator Damon Lindelof and Brad Bird, from a story by Lindelof & Bird & Jeff Jensen, “Tomorrowland” promises to take audiences on a thrill ride of nonstop adventures through new dimensions that have only been dreamed of.
