Aardman Animation made their mark on the world with their animated franchise, Wallace & Gromit. The tale of an inventor and his dog proved successful with global audiences, so they thought – why not have a sheepy spinoff? Enter the always-silent Shaun The Sheep, who made his debut in the short film, A Close Shave. With his sole form of communication – bleats – providing a ton of laughs, he went on to star in his own children’s animated series before being granted his own big screen feature due for release next year.

While earlier this year we were graced with a first look at the movie, the studio has now debuted a proper full-length trailer. This preview offers a decent insight into the story and the chance to drool over some brand new Aardman claymation. Sticking to a family friendly plot, the film follows Shaun as he decides to leave the farm for a day of fun and frolics. When his disappearance leads to the farmer being snatched to the city, Shaun and his flock plot to rescue him.

Aardman’s previous efforts have all hit it big with children and adults alike. Their animation techniques are unique, the stories fresh and appealing, but most of all, they’re often very funny. Keeping in the spirit of giving voices to the voiceless (that’ll be the animals), Shaun’s first big screen adventure looks set to follow in the footsteps of Wallace & Gromit and Chicken Run.

Shaun The Sheep will open in UK cinemas on February 6th, 2015. A US release date is expected to be announced soon.
