Not that the former True Blood actress was ever rumored to be reprising the role for Fox’s X-Men spinoff, but because Rogue and Remy LeBeau share such history in the comics, many fans thought we might be seeing the character pop up for at least a cameo in the planned Gambit film. Well, according to the following Tweet from Paquin, that’s not going to happen.

Aside from Cyclops, Rogue is the character most fans feel was let down the most by Fox’s interpretation of Marvel’s merry band of mutants. In the comics, she’s a sassy southern belle with incredible strength and the ability to fly in addition to her leech-like powers, but Rogue was altered pretty radically for Bryan Singer’s first X-Men movie and her role in the franchise diminished with each new addition. A lot of people hoped the studio would use this opportunity to right some of those wrongs and flesh this great character out a bit, but it seems it wasn’t to be.

Of course, it’s always possible Rogue will appear in the movie and be played by a different actresses, but that doesn’t seem too likely.

Tell us, are you disappointed Rogue won’t feature in Gambit, or were you not expecting her too show up in the film anyway? Let us know in the comments section below.
