Sony producer Amy Pascal is confident audiences will demand “more and more” after seeing Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters redo.

Speaking at the movie’s LA premiere over the weekend, Pascal touched base on the social conversation surrounding Ghostbusters, its inherent comedic tendencies, and why she believes Sony’s budding new franchise could be “endless.”

“I have waited for this moment for a year!” she stated. “It’s going to be endless. People are going to love this movie so much that they’re going to demand more and more.”

Such a bold prediction will naturally spawn talk of a direct sequel, and while it was refreshing to learn that Paul Feig’s female-fronted reboot stands as an entertaining romp, its fate rests in the hands of those moviegoers buying tickets on Friday.

Bouncing off Pascal’s defiant enthusiasm, Sony head Tom Rothman also weighed in on the matter, and why all press – no matter how delirious and hateful – can prove beneficial. Said he: “All that stuff has been great. It’s been great for the movie,” he stated. “The movie is a comedy, an entertaining comedy, but it is also now a real important part of the social conversation and you don’t usually get to do both of those things.”

Audiences are in for a spooky ride when Ghostbusters checks into theaters on July 15. As we learned yesterday, an extended version of Paul Feig’s reboot will be included in the home video release, while you can also have a gander at our exclusive interviews with both the director and leading star Kate McKinnon for more information.
