The Godfather Is The Most Lied About Film

You never want to rejoice in someone else's misery, which is why I insisted that we stop partying after the 84th bottle of champagne celebrating the recent firing of Movieline's former top film critic, Elvis Mitchell. Not only did I feel bad for bringing 8 layer dip, chainsaw jugglers and a couple conjoined strippers to the party, but I always feel weird kicking a guy named Elvis. So, whats the next stop for a guy who lied about seeing a movie and sort of disgraced his profession. How about the UK, where they're proud to lie about movies?

You never want to rejoice in someone else’s misery, which is why I insisted that we stop partying after the 84th bottle of champagne celebrating the recent firing of Movieline’s former top film critic, Elvis Mitchell. That’s right. Francis Ford Coppola‘s The Godfather was the #1 flick that Brits lied about having seen, according to UK video rental company Love Film. In a poll of 1500 people, 80% admitted to having lied about seeing the 1972 mobster classic.  Here are the top ten films that Brits pretend to have seen.

1.  The Godfather

2. Casablanca

3. Taxi Driver

4. 2001: A Space Odyssey

5. Reservoir Dogs

6. This Is Spinal Tap
