Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Lights Up The Latest EW Cover As New Promo Showcases Awesome Mix Vol. 2

Entertainment Weekly has rallied James Gunn's misfits together for its official cover shoot of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Awesome Mix Vol. 2 is real, it’s almost upon us, and it’s crammed full of rousing power ballads. With only two weeks left to go until Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 touches down, just yesterday Marvel officially detailed those songs set to feature on the sequel’s OST.

Among the confirmed tracks are “Fox on the Run” and Fleetwood Mac’s iconic “The Chain,” and today, a new, delightfully old-school GotG Vol. 2 promo has arrived by way of Twitter to remind you that the soundtrack is now available to pre-order. It’s by no means the only update from the Guardians camp to emerge online this week, either, considering Entertainment Weekly has gathered James Gunn’s crew of misfits together for a cover shoot. Promising a last-minute helping of content, the outlet also posted a brief quote from Gunn himself, who highlighted “The Chain” as a particularly apt ballad for Star-Lord and the gang.

Per EW:

The first Guardians movie is about becoming a family, and this one is about being a family. And being a family’s a lot harder than becoming a family. That song, for me, means the Guardians can never break the chain — and also maybe it’s about, they’re gonna break it. Who knows?

Perhaps more so than any other track featured on Awesome Mix Vol. 2, Fleetwood Mac’s beloved single has played in numerous clips and trailers for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, so we’re intrigued to discover how it filters into the actual movie. Speaking of which, you’ll be able to find the film’s latest TV spot above, while that soundtrack promo is embedded below.

James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set to light up theaters on May 5th – in North America, at least – but the fun doesn’t stop there; as we learned earlier this week, the writer-director has ironed out the details to return for Vol. 3, which will seemingly have huge ramifications for Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
