It’s Hammer Time In First Avengers: Age Of Ultron Clip

Yesterday was a pretty spectacular day for Marvel fans, who learned about nine upcoming superhero films from the studio, including Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, The Inhumans and the two-part Avengers: Infinity War. Before any of those highly promising Phase Three titles arrives in theaters, however, we can all look forward to next May's Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Yesterday was a pretty spectacular day for Marvel fans, as we learned about nine upcoming superhero films from the studio, including Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, The Inhumans and the two-part Avengers: Infinity War. Before any of those highly promising Phase Three titles arrives in theaters, however, we can all look forward to next May’s Avengers: Age of Ultron.

If the Phase Two finale is as spectacular as its first teaser trailer made it look, Age of Ultron will be one of the best Marvel movies yet. Given that, you can’t blame Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige for trying to boost already sky-high anticipation even higher yesterday by airing a new clip for the blockbuster.

After the conference, the clip aired on ABC during this week’s episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and now Marvel has released it online for the world to see. In contrast to the dark and serious tone of Age of Ultron‘s first trailer, this clip finds the Avengers in high spirits while partying in their tower.

We know that Thor’s (Chris Hemsworth) worthiness as the ruler of Asgard will be a major plot point in Age of Ultron, and the clip drives that home as the God of Thunder smugly watches his teammates struggle to lift his fabled hammer, Mjolnir. Super-powered shenanigans ensue – but the arrival of a partially assembled Ultron (James Spader) threatens to kill the mood (and all of humanity).

The clip leads into the same trailer we’ve seen a thousand times before, with the exception of two little glimpses. One finds Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) bracing herself for something behind an opening hatch, while another sees someone who could be Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) viewing Loki’s scepter on his Samsung tablet (yay marketing!).

We’ll find out what it all means when Avengers: Age of Ultron finally touches down on May 1st, 2015.
