With the June 5th release of Insidious: Chapter 3 rapidly approaching, Focus Features wants you to get an early taste of “The Further” through a unique 4D experience that puts YOU right in the middle of the action. Under way right now is a cross-country tour featuring the “Into The Further 4D Experience,” which features a mix of high-tech virtual horrors and haunted house that’s sure to get your heart racing. If you’re an Insidious franchise fan like I am, this is your time to join Lin Shaye in her latest attempt to keep the most unsavory lost souls from entering our world.

If you’re brave enough to enter James Wan and Leigh Whannell’s ghostly world, you’ll strap on an Oculus Rift and enter a dimension where the dead lurk around every corner. You’ll become one with the movie in ways that you’ve never imagined, and the best part about it is the price of admission – completely free. Yup. All you have to do is head on over to the event’s official page, RSVP accordingly, and hope you remember to bring a second pair of underwear. You know, just in case something nasty gets scared out of you.

The mobile tour has already made stops in Atlanta and Miami, but this hellish parade is far from over. Its next stop is Chicago on the weekend of 4/24-4/26, and from there the tour will make stops in Philadelphia, California, Texas, and then a final closing event in New York City the same week that Insidious: Chapter 3 premieres.

But what if the tour isn’t stopping in your home town? Have no fear, because you can channel “The Further” right in the “safety” of your own home since the virtual reality portion of “Into The Further 4D” will be released as a downloadable application on iOS and Android devices. To access the experience at home, you must use a Google Cardboard virtual reality headset, which you can find for free here or through select promotional partners.

Go ahead. Get an early taste of the terrors that await theLambert family when Insidious: Chapter 3 is released on June 5th. Don’t forget to come back and tell us about your experience if you attend any “Into The Further 4D Experience” location – if you make it back, that is.
