Headshot Trailer: The Raid’s Iko Uwais Fights To Rediscover A Missing Identity

The Raid's Iko Uwais takes a deep dive into the action scene once more in the new trailer for Headshot, Kimo Stamboel and Timo Tjahjanto's thriller.

Iko Uwais channels Jason Bourne in the blistering new trailer for Headshot, Kimo Stamboel and Timo Tjahjanto’s hardboiled action thriller that finds the former Raid star in the role of Ismail, a young man struggling to remember who he really is.

Following a nasty encounter with the town’s crime ring, one which left Ismail circling the jaws of death, Iko Uwais’ amnesiac awakens from his month-long coma with only Ailin, a caring student doctor, for company. With her help, Ismail begins to piece together his fragmented memory only to discover that he is, in fact, a trained killer. The comparisons to Jason Bourne end there, however, considering Headshot forces our forgetful lead into a battle with an evil crime lord, as opposed to the CIA.

Our own Matt Donato caught a screening of Headshot at TIFF last year, and left relatively impressed: “As punishing as it is grotesquely poetic, Headshot is a healthy dose of breathtaking brutality that makes you hold on for dear life.”

Meanwhile, the official plot synopsis surmises Kimo Stamboel and Timo Tjahjanto’s gritty revenge thriller as so:

Headshot follows a mysterious young man, who, after months in a coma from a gunshot wound to the head is nursed back to health by a young student-doctor, Ailin. Realizing that the man has lost his memory and identity, the two quickly grow closer; not realizing that behind their momentary peace lays danger. Soon their lives collide with a gang of dangerous criminals led by an enigmatic crime lord – and with every violent confrontation, his memory brings him closer to a dark truth as the lethal personality awakening within him starts to reveal who he really is.”

Headshot is earmarked for theatrical release on March 3rd, when Stamboel and Timo Tjahjanto’s low-key actioner will open under the shadow of Logan.
