Well, this is somewhat surprising. In a recent interview with Elle, Helen Mirren has confirmed that she’s finally been able to accomplish one of her many goals: starring in a Fast and Furious movie. An odd goal for the actress, to be sure, but one that’s now been realized as Mirren has been added to the cast of Fast 8.

“I’m about to do Fast and Furious 8,” she told the magazine. “I’ve always rather loved driving. I said, ‘I’ll be in it, but only if I’m allowed to drive if I do drive in it.’ But we’ll see. We’ll see how it transpires.”

Mirren wouldn’t reveal whether or not her role here will simply be a cameo, or something more sizeable, but there you have it – she’s definitely in the film. And let’s be honest, no matter what kind of part she ends up having in Fast 8, it’s going to be awesome seeing her on screen. I mean, it’s Helen Mirren in a Fast and Furious movie, who wouldn’t pay to see that?

Joining a massive cast that already includes Charlize Theron, Kurt Russell, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, Nathalie Emmanuel, Scott Eastwood and Kristofer Hivju, Helen Mirren will roar into theatres alongside Fast 8 on April 14, 2017.

Tell us, what kind of role do you think the iconic actress will end up taking on in the film? A cameo part, or something more substantial?
