High-Res Deadpool Images Offer A Closer Look At The Film’s Key Players

Though 20th Century Fox is yet to debut the Comic-Con trailer to the wanting masses officially – we expect it to ransack the interwebs in little under three weeks’ time – the studio has today released a string of familiar images showcasing the leading players of Deadpool.

Essentially, these stills are high-res versions of those that debuted during the week of the San Diego event, allowing ardent fans of the Merc with a Mouth to get up close and personal with his anticipated standalone feature. From Morena Baccarin’s Vanessa Carlysle/Copycat to Brianna Hildebrand’s inimitable Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Fox’s feature is riff with colorful personalities, and these early photos only fill us with confidence ahead of the films debut early next year.

For those of you who didn’t catch a glimpse of the now-pulled Comic-Con footage, the first Deadpool trailer is a broader, funnier and more violent version of the excellent test footage from late last year. With Ryan Reynolds bringing the titular character to life with aplomb, early signs have been tremendously positive, and Fox’s bold take on the eccentric superhero could prove to be one of the darkest and ambitious entries into the genre yet.

Deadpool will bring together Ryan Reynolds as both Wade Wilson and the title character, along with Morena Baccarin as Vanessa Carlysle, T.J. Miller as Weasel and Gina Carano as Angel Dust, Ed Skrein as Ajax, and Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead. The scarred mercenary will kick ass and take names when the film opens on February 12, 2016.

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
