Hurricane Katrina Thriller Hours Finally Gets A Trailer

It debuted in March at South by Southwest, but the first trailer for Hours, directed by Final Destination 5 screenwriter Eric Heisserer and starring Fast and the Furious' very own Paul Walker, has finally appeared online. The film was announced ages ago, 2011 in fact, but it's only just received a release date, along with the trailer.

It debuted in March at South by Southwest, but the first trailer for Hours, directed by Final Destination 5 screenwriter Eric Heisserer and starring Fast and the Furious‘ very own Paul Walker, has finally appeared online. The film was announced ages ago, 2011 in fact, but it’s only just received a release date, along with the trailer.

Hours attempts to make you somehow sympathize with the plight of those affected by Hurricane Katrina by placing an extremely attractive couple at the centre of the disaster. When Paul Walker’s wife’s waters break prematurely, she’s rushed to hospital. After a difficult birth the baby is eventually born, and in the aftermath of that particular event, Hurricane Katrina hits. Paul Walker struggles to keep his daughter (and himself) alive throughout the maelstrom, wrestling with the weather and other people in a fight for survival.

Lionsgate are handling the theatrical release on this one, which is surprisingly wide given the relatively low status that Paul Walker has critically. Presumably Lionsgate are banking on capturing a big percentage of fans of 2012’s The Impossible, starring Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts, who crave emotional natural disasters but just haven’t been able to scratch that itch for a while.

Hours will be released in theatres on December 13th, just in time for Christmas! Check out the trailer and poster below and let us know what you think in the comments section.
