The plush foul-mouthed bear who cleaned up at the 2012 box office returns to the big screen for more tomfoolery in Ted 2. Set for release next year, the sequel will attempt to replicate the success of the original by enlisting Mark Wahlberg once more to assist the pint-sized plushie. After it took a whopping $550 million worldwide, Ted went on to become one of the most successful R-rated movies of all time. The question is, however, will the second adventure for the thunder buddies do the same?
Writer, director and star Seth MacFarlane is doing all he can to ensure that Ted 2 is bigger and flashier than the first. Upping the jokes, scoring bigger locations and bagging a supreme cast suggest we’re in for an even-more bonkers ride next summer. One part of which appears to take place in the water. Thanks to this latest image courtesy of EW, we’ve got a glimpse at the two besties decked out in scuba gear. While we’ve no definite idea of exactly what the story concerns, we do know that at some point the film will involve a trip Comic-Con. Perhaps by boat?
Along with Wahlberg and MacFarlane, the follow-up has acquired a new line-up of high-profile names set to appear. Much like the first, which was dotted with cameos, Ted 2 will adhere to that formula – but with bigger stars. Liam Neeson and Morgan Freeman have joined the cast, with the latter playing an “iconic civil rights lawyer who comes into the picture when Ted needs to resolve some legal issues.” With Mila Kunis bowing out of the girlfriend duties, the gauntlet has been passed to Amanda Seyfried, who will be contending with a boyfriend who likes to snuggle with a bear.
Ted 2 arrives in theaters on June 26th, 2015.
